Associate Minister for Music

Oakland Baptist Church, a theologically moderate church located in Rock Hill, SC, is seeking a Minister of Music. We are a church that values relationships, spiritual growth in Christ, and missions. You can read more about our vision and history by exploring the rest of our website.

Our church offers a weekly worship experience, an expansive music program, a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth, missions and ministry project opportunities, and focused ministries for children, youth, and adults. Our church is an inclusive and open fellowship, seeking to love all people by being the hands and feet of Christ in our community and around the world.

The Minister of Music will be a devoted follower of Christ, hold a music degree, and have a background that includes theological training, experience as a church musician leading choirs and handbells, and the ability to participate in and/or provide guidance for blending traditional and non-traditional services. The Minister of Music will also be responsible for overseeing other musical activities of the church.

In addition, we hope to fill this position with someone who possesses any number of gifts beyond music. Our search committee is interested in all areas of expertise and experience including but not limited to the following:

  • pastoral care/visitation

  • facilities management

  • community outreach

  • counseling

  • teaching

  • working with children, youth, or senior adults

  • spiritual formation

  • technology

  • church administration

Rock Hill, SC is located twenty-five miles south of Charlotte. It is a growing community of 75,000 residents and offers many outdoor recreational activities as well as numerous cultural opportunities. Rock Hill is home to three higher education institutions: Winthrop University, Clinton College, and York Technical College.
