Youth at Oakland (grades 6-12) are invited to participate in a number of weekly activities as well as special events, trips, and retreats throughout the year. Each of these activities is designed to fulfill the purposes of fellowship, worship, discipleship, and mission. Weekly activities include Sunday School, Sunday Night Live!, and Youth on Mission programs. Special annual events offer additional opportunities for spirtual formation. OBC offers a variety of retreats for our youth -- including winter ski retreats, a week-long summer camp, and a fall retreat.

Sunday School provides a time each week for in-depth Bible study and discussion. Students gather in a middle school assembly and a high school assembly before breaking out into age-group classes. The curriculum varies and focuses on applying biblical understanding to real-life situations. |

Sunday Night Live! is our regular "youth group" meeting with some new twists—a blend of in-depth Bible study, creative youth worship, experiential games, and fun/fellowship nights. Each night after youth choir, teens will enjoy a meal prepared by parents. For Bible study and experiential games, the group will be divided in to middle and high school groups. For creative worship and fellowship nights, middle and high school will stay together. |

On Wednesday nights during the school year, we focus on involving teens in hands-on mission and ministry. Through YOM, students have the opportunity to be servant-leaders in our church and community. Teenagers will commit to a particular ministry project for the entire semester. Small groups led by adults will focus on building relationships in that ministry setting over a period of time. Often teenagers find mission sites that make use of their own talents and passions as they serve others. |
